Employee Assistance Program Support

(A Brief Description of Services We Provide)

We Are Providers for Most EAP Programs in East Tennessee

For many years, we have served as clinical mental health providers for most Employee Assistance Programs in East Tennessee. As mentioned on the locations page on this site, Dr. Scoggins has two offices - one is at The Center, the municipal clinic for City of Knoxville employees and their families located in the lower level of the Public Works building. Only civil service employees and their families are able to be seen at that location. In addition, Dr. Scoggins primary office is at 5401 Kingston Pike, Suite 400. As we show on the Home page of this site, we have more than 800 square feet of office space there, which makes it easy for social distancing, We also space clients with a 25 minute break between each to allow for disinfecting the Waiting Room, entrance way, and the main office. Of course, we have an air purification system which clears 99+ percent of contagions from the air. As such, most civil service members and their families prefer to be served at the Kingston Pike office, where face masks are optional during the sessions, rather than at The Center, where face masks are mandatory due to the small office space in which the sessions would take place. Those who work for the City of Knoxville and their family members use Employee Networks, Inc. (eni) as their Employee Assistance Program facilitator. In addition to counseling, there are a variety of other benefits available to employees through their EAP Program.

To set up the appointment as a City of Knoxville employee or family member, call the toll-free line dedicated to municiple employees at eni - 800-986-4513, then call our appointment line at 865-214-7584 and set an appointment to meet with Dr. Scoggins. They will send us an authorization email confirming you are a municipal employee of Knoxville or a family member.

Additional EAP Providers

The City of Knoxville is not the only client served by eni as the Employee Assistance Program provider for EAP programs. They serve numerous other clients across the nation, including in the Knoxville and East Tennessee area. The number of free sessions employees receive from their EAP benefits varies based on the guidelines set in place by the employer.

Other EAP Providers in the Area

Both Dr. Scoggins and Melanie are providers for the EAP Programs of eni, but are also on board with other EAP Program providers, as well. This includes Optum EAP, Work Place Options (WPO), Magellan EAP, Humana EAP, Military One Source, and possibly others. If your employer offers an EAP Program, check with your Human Resource Office to see if we are considered providers in your network.

EAP is a Safe Process

Using your EAP benefits to meet with one of our clinicians is a safe experience. You do not have to worry about information noted from your sessions being shared with your employer. Federal Law, specifically the Health Information Privacy Act of 1999, forbids this without your expressed permission provided in writing to us. (See the privacy page on this site for more information.) The same applies for sessions in which clients use their health insurance or self-pay. Privacy is assured.

What Do You Do When Your Allocated Sessions Are Used?

When clients have been allocated a certain number of sessions for the year and they are all used up, there are options. Dr. Scoggins accepts most insurance, so clients can transition to their insurance to continue the sessions. (Melanie does not accept insurance, but does offer a sliding fee scale to help those who desire to continue using self-payment to cover the cost.) So, take advantage of these programs to get the help you need right away!
